I’ve been busy. Relatively. There are two new ‘historic club‘ articles on the site, about Universitatea Cluj and the long-defunct but phenomenally successful Chinezul Timisoara. I’ve also been to a couple of Liga I games this month: one at Voluntari and another at Dinamo, so reports are in the ‘I was there‘ section.
Looking forward to another visit to the National Arena in November, to watch Romania take on Poland. Watch this space for more ill-informed and cliche-ridden reporting. And then Bucharest’s rugby internationals at the Arc de Triumf stadium, none of which I can write about because, well, have you tried the beer they sell there?
Last Sunday saw the second leg of the baraj, the play-off to determine whether current Liga I side FC Voluntari, or the Liga II play-off winners UTA Bătrâna Doamnă, would take part in next season’s Romanian top flight. With Voluntari 3-0 up from the first leg, there seemed little chance that the phoenix club from the far west of the country could come back and win the tie. Continue reading
